Flavor. Quality. Healthy. These are our top three priorities when producing our beef. Sounds good to me! What do you think? If you’re a health conscious & wellness driven individual you’ll want to learn more about this. Let’s dive in to my conversation with Founder, Gabrielle Crumley, as we go into depth on how Beef Box started & why you should seriously give it a try, yourself.

What was the inspiration of driving factor behind your mission of, “changing the way people buy beef?”

Right now most people don’t know where their beef comes from. They go down to their local supermarket or butcher and purchase what is available, that beef could be from cattle raised from another country like Brazil or Nambia because of the lack of country of origin labeling requirements we don’t know. At Beef Box we’re trying to help people reconnect with their food by knowing where it comes from, how it was raised, and the fact that it never leaves our ranch allows our customers to feel confident knowing exactly where their beef is from.

What inspired or motivated you to start Beef Box?
When we started our cattle ranch we quickly found trying to support the herd through the traditional marketing methods of selling weaned calves to finishers was never going to work. We started selling our beef locally allowing people to order a 1/2 or whole beef. However, I spoke to so many people who wanted to purchase from us but didn’t have enough freezer space, or enough cash to purchase a 1/2 cow all at once. So I started thinking about how I could solve those problems, and that is where I came up with the idea of Beef Box.

What was the most challenging part of starting the process?
The most challenging part was finding a USDA certified butcher near us that could process our beef. We ended up finding one 2.5 hours away that we were able to get our first group processed at so we could get started.

What are the main things you’ve learned so far in your entrepreneurial journey?
Always stay adaptable.

Business is constantly changing, the best thing you can do is stay flexible and adapt with the changes.

Build a relationship with your customers whenever you can. A personal touch speaks volumes.

Be patient. Growing a business takes time, don’t give up because the launch didn’t go as you hoped. If you believe in what you are doing just keep going it will work in time.

When things get tough, what’s your best advice for someone reading?
Be patient. Tough times are just a season, it will pass, everything will be ok, just keep doing the small things you know you need to do to continue to grow your business.

When it comes to marketing Beef Box what is your current strategy?
We currently utilize social media and our email list to connect with our customers. Our strategy is to gain customers through education, and transparency. The more we can help teach people about what we do, why we do it, and share with them what we are doing the more we can help people connect back to the food they consume.

Has social media helped or impacted your business in a positive way?

In the times of our current economy and with a pandemic, what has changed for your business? What advice would you give someone in the food industry or businesses in your similar space?
Yes, the pandemic did initially help our business quiet a bit. With stores running out of food people were looking for alternatives which is where we came in. I would say, work to keep your products in stock, get creative and do what you can to provide remote delivery. Now more than ever people want to know where their food comes from and if they can get it shipped directly to them that’s even better! 11. What have you had to shift or change in your current business with all that’s happening in our world? We didn’t have to shift much honestly, when everything hit our sales significantly increased. We have had to switch shipping companies because of the delays in shipping from COVID-19 but besides that we didn’t have to do much.

Why should someone choose your product over something else in the store?
The main reason is because when they buy from us they know exactly where the meat was raised. We keep detailed records about everything that happened during that steers life so we can ensure our customers our meat is antibiotic and hormone-free, and humanely raised. We have a small cattle herd, which means no animal gets overlooked. We make sure each one is well taken care of and lives the best life possible.

What differentiates you from every other competitor or standard beef supplier? Let’s talk health benefits!
Our beef is 100% grass-fed and finished which means our beef is leaner, has more flavor, and is higher in key nutrients, including antioxidants, vitamins, and beneficial fats that have been tied to improved immunity and anti-inflammation benefits.

Where can we stay connected with you online?

I love them all so much. Tune in with me every week on Instagram & Twitter for more awesome thought provoking questions and of course, realness. Love you all for staying connected with me on Socially Steph. Remember: The future is BRIGHT.

Two years ago I was invited into Baird & Warner to present myself & services as Socially Steph. πŸ‘‹ “Socially Steph is going to present in 10 minutes,” she said over the mic. I sat there laughing out loud (LOL πŸ˜‚ ) with the agents whom I was about to teach Instagram Stories & Facebook Ads too. I couldn’t believe something was coming to life here. It felt like a business was truly being born & indeed it was.

I walked out of there confident, happy & excited. I had my very first Real Estate client and that morning I can still remember the feeling of truly CREATING something on my own.

Every Monday, I taught my group fitness class at LA Fitness at the time. This is what I call my “happy hour” πŸ˜ƒ because it truly is one of the best things in the world to uplift people’s mood, spirit, mindset & health. It’s a huge passion of mine and led me to create ELEV8workout.

Later that evening, I’ll never forget it or the text I received from my Dad at 10:47pm. “Steph, come to the hospital. I don’t think Grandpa is going to make it.”

My Grandpa had been fighting stage 4 prostate cancer for 7+ years and he was the definition of true strength. He had fought hard not only in his own business at Chicago Studio City, but for his life. Every day.

It was hard to think that Monday, June 26th would be the last day I ever saw him. The last minutes with him felt like a blurr and I caught myself thinking about life as I watched my Grandpa slowly pass and leave me.

My biggest inspiration, one of my greatest teachers, listeners & advice givers. Someone whom I loved so deeply & made me feel like the biggest brightest light in the room – was gone. I held onto his hand tightly as he gave his last breath. I was in awe that earlier that day was the highest of highs and then I reached my lowest of lows (ever).

Socially Steph was born the same day my Grandpa died & every client win, every time I self doubt myself, every blessing that comes my way I think of him. He is there for me every step of this journey and that is something I am grateful for. Before he passed he left me with some wise words when I was feeling stuck. He said, Steph,

“Whatever you put your energy into you’ll be successful”

Supporting entrepreneurs and brands is what I have set out to do and love doing. My business is not just a business, it’s my heart, energy, passion & it’s here to serve you so that you can shine brighter on & offline. πŸŒŸ #thefutureisBRIGHT

When Taylor reached out to me on LinkedIn I was immediately drawn to her passion: Personal Styling. I had to learn more about her & what motivated her to start her business. I’m excited to have Taylor as a guest on SociallySteph.com to share with YOU more about what she’s created & how she can help you elevate your style ASAP. Head back to the office with a new look.

Read on to get inspired:

What inspired/motivated you to start your business?

My motivation to start my business was based off of a childhood trauma. I grew up in a single-parent household. My Mother’s a nurse and my Father’s a factory worker, so we didn’t have much money growing up. I moved out of my Mom’s to my Dad’s on my 18th birthday & that decision equaled leaving my half-brother behind. This left me with a broken heart. His situation was worse than mine & he didn’t have help with food or clothes like I did. Since then I vowed to never leave another person behind. I do that through my styling services.

Who do you service and why?

I service entrepreneurs & speakers, both male and female. I chose this niche because I noticed a giant hole in the market. There’s no one serving these individuals. Another big reason is because I consider myself in the same bracket of people & essentially I want to serve my people.

What does style mean to you?

Style to me is personality. My style describes my personality. I wear it on my body like armor because it gives me the confidence I need to conquer my day, my week, & my life.

How does style make an impact on someone in their life or business?

Style is different for everyone. Once I found my style, I was a whole new person & gained self-esteem & confidence which in turn gave me the courage to start my business. For others, style could be their brand, their armor (like me) or anything they want it to be. It can benefit them more if they use it to their advantage like when you dress nice for a job interview, you feel confident so you nail the interview, right?! Style can give you confidence if that’s something you’re lacking.

What’s important when it comes to style?

Comfort & fit are the two most common goals when it comes to style. You don’t want to buy a bunch of clothes that are so uncomfortable that you want to take them off immediately. You also don’t want clothes that don’t fit you properly because then you’ll never wear them & again that’s wasted money & time you could have spent buying the right thing. OR if you have a personal stylist/personal shopper, like me, then you don’t have to worry about it! You can pay them to do the shopping FOR YOU as they will have your preferences & measurements & you now have more time to spend with family or build your empire.

What’s the greatest pain point you solve for clients?

TIME. Entrepreneurs & speakers are constantly traveling, in meetings, working on projects, etc and they don’t have time to shop for themselves. My client Shay Rowbottom is a great example, she has no time & hates shopping anyway. Does this sound like you, too?

What helped you gain business since starting?

I started my business in November 2019 so it’s still fairly new. However, having the courage & belief in myself to make my dreams reality is what has helped me the most. If I didn’t flip my mindset I would have never started my own business & lived the life I truly desired.

How do you leverage social media?

I use LinkedIn as my main platform to connect with & gain clients since my target audience is there. Facebook groups to find potential clients. Instagram, Twitter & YouTube are helpful sometimes, but not nearly as much.

What social media platform has helped you the most in business?

LinkedIn, hands down.

What advice would you give to someone looking to own their style?

If you’re looking to own your style you have to be open minded & not give a f*ck what others think because it is most important to be yourself & not who society wants you to be. This includes your appearance, the only people that look like a barbie doll are those that can afford botox. Style can help you love yourself like it did for me & is part of my why. My mission is to help thousands of others gain their confidence through clothing!

Tell us about virtual styling.

Virtual Styling is fairly new to the market & each one is different. There are two main types of virtual styling – there is the stitch-fix way & then there is the freelance way. I have worked in both. I prefer freelance simply because I really get to know my clients on a deeper level, I don’t just provide them with outfits & say ‘good luck!’I run my business using a 3-4 step process, the first step is a discovery call, we have to have chemistry or some sort of connection for the relationship to work, during this meeting we discuss their answers to a style questionnaire that they receive via email after scheduling a meeting. The second step is the review of the lookbook. This generally occurs between 3 days & week depending on the clients schedule, it takes me 2-3 days max to put the lookbook together. During this meeting we discuss the lookbook to be approved for purchase of the clothing or just the lookbook. We will also discuss if there needs to be any changes to the lookbook, which if there are, that will equal the 4th step as the third step is meant for invoicing, & tracking of the shipments. The 4th step is the final review of the lookbook after changes.

What’s been the most challenging part of running your business thus far?

MYSELF. What I mean by that is that I have been in the ’employee/closed mindset’ & I have been working towards the ‘growth mindset.’ I’ve allowed myself to get in my own way & sabotage my own success. Why? Probably because I dream big & want a life of luxury & I haven’t been considering myself worthy of that success & life. Until I do, I will not be successful.

What’s your favorite inspirational quote you believe in?

“You are allowed to be both a masterpiece & a work in progress, simultaneously”

Sophia Bush

“A girl should be two things in life, who & what she wants to be”

Any suggestions to our readers on books, podcasts, resources, social media accounts that help you become better?

OMG YES. My client Shay has her own podcast that she just launched so check her out! Sophia Bush’s “Work in Progress” podcast. Books: “What to say when you talk to yourself” by Shad Helmstetter”Transurfing in 78 days, A practical course in creating your own reality” by Vedim Zeland. “Girl Wash Your Face” by Rachel Hollis. Build An Empire” by Elena Cardone” Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill “Unfuck Yourself” by Gary John Bishop

If I could give anyone helpful advice, it would be to ASK FOR HELP. So many people are afraid to ask for what they want but the universe will provide what you ask it to if you have the courage to JUST ASK. Are you afraid to drive? No? Riddle me this then, if you’re not afraid to drive one of the most fatal things on the planet, then why are you afraid to make your dreams reality?

All I know is after personally speaking to Taylor for over an hour I can’t wait to have her help me put together a styled look for my next shoot. I have a bonus offer for you if this is something you need help with use code SOCIALLYSTEPH for 10% off your service with Taylor.

The CBD products I’m taking to stay on track during quarantine & kick chronic pain have worked wonders on my mind & body with added benefits I wasn’t even expecting. I was introduced to Clean Remedies when I didn’t know what else to do. I was experiencing major chronic pain to the point where a daily walk was a challenge. I tried foam rolling, epsom salt baths, ice packs and even had to pop a few Advil (which I only take for emergency situations as this was!!) I knew about CBD, but never really used it so I did some extensive research. Thankfully, a boutique store in my town was open & I picked up Clean Remedies products at Kerwell in Downers Grove.

Side note, with all the changes of COVID the landscape of media & fitness was changing rapidly! I put immense pressure on myself to show up online. I wanted to be hopping on live workouts & prioritizing movement, but I couldn’t 😭. I was completely shocked when in less than 24 hours of using the 900MG CBD oil & the gummies I felt immediate relief. The only word that comes to mind is WOW — it seriously worked like magic! My pain seriously subsided, muscle aches and inflammation went down drastically. If you’re feeling this same way OR you’re having troubles sleeping or feeling anxious I highly suggest looking into Clean Remedies further.

If you’re anything like me I research the heck out of things before I purchase, join or even collaborate on anything.  Immediately after I started taking the products I was so intrigued and excited about the real results it brought me I decided I needed to hop on the phone with the founders myself. Their mission, story & the personal interactions I had with them are all truly amazing. Having connected with them I grew an even bigger passion & love for their product line because it works! There’s a lot of junk and gimmicky products out there and I am happy to report that Clean Remedies is a product to trust and believe in. Give it a try yourself & let me know your results. CBD oil has been studied for its potential role in easing symptoms of many common health issues, including anxiety, depression, acne and heart disease.

Up your wellness game. Here’s a few more benefits CBD can bring to your life.

  1. Reduce inflammation in your body
  2. Studies indicate that CBD may be able to help with high blood pressure
  3. CBD oil has shown promise as a treatment for both depression and anxiety, leading many who live with these disorders to become interested in this natural approach.
  4. Several human studies have found that a combination of CBD is effective in treating pain related to multiple sclerosis and arthritis.

I have an amazing code for all of you to reap the benefits, too! With code steph20 you’ll get 20% off any purchase. **My favorites are the gummies (eat them like candy!) & the 900mg CBD oil which I use myself daily.

Don’t forget to join the giveaway happening now at Instagram.com/SociallySteph where you can win a 900mg tincture oil for yourself. It’s simple to enter.

Alright everyone, I’m going to be honest. These are legit! Plus, you’re sneaking a veggie in there and this makes me want to eat the whole pan (don’t do that tho!) The zucchini is actually incredibly moist so if you put it in baked goods like these it’s delicious and you can’t even taste it!!

This is from True Roots cookbook, but I recently swapped out the almond butter for PB and I like them 10x better. Here it is & let me know if you’re a fan:

Zucchini Blondies Recipe

Makes: 16
Cook time: 30 minutes

1 cup creamy almond butter (I used no sugar added PB)
1 egg
1/2 tsp pink Himalayan salt (This salt is KEY! πŸ”‘ )
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup coconut sugar
1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract (I like to do 1 tsp!)
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (I love love LOVE Lilly’s Sugar Free)
1 large zucchini, grated

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line 8Γ—8 baking dish with parchment paper, or grease with coconut oil or butter.

In a large bowl, mix the almond butter, egg, salt, baking soda, coconut sugar and vanilla until combined. Fold in chocolate chips or zucchini. Pour into dish and press down to spread.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes (mine took 30) or until golden brown and toothpick comes out clean.

Let cool and enjoy!! 😊

If you never try, you’ll never know. A few years ago when I was working in corporate I thought I wanted to change careers and be a travel writer.

This idea of travel & writing was weighing heavy on my mind. The only way I knew I’d get a taste of this was to actually try it myself. I booked my first ever solo travel trip to Denver and I used this as a way to see if this is something I can picture myself doing long term. I did my best to envision what this career life would be like. Constant travel, writing about different destinations, and getting paid opportunities to travel seemed so fun to me.

However, once I put myself into “pretending” to be a travel writer I realized a few things immediately. 1. I don’t want to document every thing I do while traveling because I want to enjoy the moments traveling freely. 2. Traveling is a helluva lot of work and sitting in airports ain’t my thang. Ya feel me? I’ll just stick to vacations.

Shortly after that trip I ended up back on the beach in Fort Lauderdale where I came up with the idea to create SociallySteph.com. Initially, I thought I’d weave in my travels to this site along with style & fitness. A few months ago I created a profile with RewardSTYLE & LikeToKnowIt. I was excited to be able to leverage this platform and pair it with @SociallySteph.

Style is something I personally love, but I don’t want it to be something I am having to share constantly. To be successful in any area of life in business you need consistency & love for what you’re creating. If style happens to fall into what I do great but it’s not my main focus. Check out my first LikeToKnowIt post here:

I believe the only way you’ll ever figure out what you essentially want to do and who you want to become is to simply try. Try it all. Do the things that light you up and in those moments you’ll only gain more clarity and get closer to that AHA moment where you’re like, THIS IS IT! What have you been longing to try but push to the side?

The more you try the better you become overall and you’ll get to learning what path you truly want to take. I hope this post was helpful for you. Here’s to trying more things, together.

I’ve been meaning to press publish on this post for over a year, yikes!! This is what happens when you spend time going through your notes during Quarantine. Expect a lot more writing & blog posts coming here soon. #YAAAASSS

Now since we have a little more time to pause. It’s a perfect time to start to do more things you love or have been putting off. For me, that’s sharing stories. So, meet my Grandma G. Growing up she was sure to bring me joy while always cutting my PB&J into tiny squares, playing with me on the beach in Naples every year & always putting so much thought and care into her gifts. She’s a wonderful cook and I can say I am guilty of over consuming all her goodies anytime she makes something. She also is a great listener and someone who has truly wanted to see me do all the things I love. I am so lucky to have someone like her in my life. We can all agree she brings everyone together.

I remember one day I was sitting in a parking lot and had some extra time to spare before a meeting when I dialed my Grandma G. We were on the topic of life happiness and I always love hearing others perspectives. This is some simple advice to apply to your own life right now:

These are my notes I wrote down from our conversation & some of my own thoughts I’ve added in parentheses.

1. Try to be happy as always (because it’s a choice & only you have the power to make yourself truly your happiest. Don’t rely on anyone else for your own happiness)

2. You can’t replace fun times (very true, enjoy every moment & really relish it as much as you can. You only have the present moment in which you are in right now)

3. Smile at people when you’re out walking (πŸ˜ƒ this is always a great idea!)

4. Count your blessings (you’d be surprised at how blessed you truly are)

5. Show kindness to everyone (this is key πŸ”‘, kill people with kindness)

6. Treat people the way you want to be treated (nothing more to say here)

7. Set goals and you’ll be happy (goals are what make life great. You may not always achieve the goal in which you wanted too, it might take longer time or maybe the goal changes in itself, but setting the goal is the first step to starting)

8. …. just read the 10 commandments and life will be good

There you have it. 8 Life Lessons From my Grandma G aka Grammy Pants & @GrannyGeorgene Instagram πŸ˜‚ If you liked this blog please leave something good in the comments. I’d love to hear how you’d add on. What would #9 be?

The most simple recipes are my favorite. You know, the ones that take very little time, have a few ingredients and come out tasting super delicious. Here’s one that I love making, especially in the summertime. It’s such a refreshing summer breakfast. It’s chockfull of healthy ingredients, very satiating and satisfying. Plus, you can modify and swap things for your own preference. If you don’t like PB add Almond Butter, if you don’t like banana add another fruit you love. So, let’s stop talking and get to making these. I usually make enough for the week so you’ll want about 5-6 mason jars. Grab & share the recipe below:

Have fun & stay healthy! If you make this recipe I’d love to see it. Be sure to tag me on all socials at @SociallySteph. I really hope you like this one as much as I do. XO
